1. Ok, have some thoughts about continuing to call it Trickle Down Economics. First, not sure many people remember the theory. Second, relatedly, that means we need to explain the theory BEFORE even getting to why it doesn’t work.
2. I think the reality of the theory is that the rich are a sponge and just suck up all the money sent to them, until someone squeezes it out. NOTHING trickles down unless it is squeezed.
3. But the most effective frame, I believe, is to call it Reverse Robin Hood Economics. The idea that taking from those with little, and giving it to elites with a lot. That Republicans believe the rich elite need more money, and that will grow the economy.
4/4 I think people easily understand what Reverse Robin Hood is, so you do not have to explain, and inherently believe it won’t work, so little convincing has to be done. Much more clear of a way to frame GOP economic theory.
