Cities that voluntarily adopted the DOJ reforms to policing policies had 32% fewer shootings, those that were mandated to reform had 25% fewer. The policies make a difference, period.
Which means Jeff Sessions’s decision not to use the DOJ to mandate or even support voluntary reforms will literally result in more people being killed by police, the majority of whom are black.
