While you were sleeping, the New York Times took dictation for a serial liar, printed his lies without correction and then argued with people on Twitter when called out on their abject failure to do their job.

In other words, just another proud day in “access journalism”.
p.s. ...and just in case it wasn’t obvious the NYT and others have entirely left the field of play, Trump openly called them out on their quiet complicity.

In the dictation session, Trump said he’d win again in 2020 because the media would want him to again.
...and having heard the Trumpian bell, Maggie Haberman naturally took to Twitter to spend hours defending their non-journalism.

She opened with a bizarre straw man that suggests reporters can’t “interrupt” without it being a cross-examination.
Finally, while watching Haberman defend non-journalism, it should be remembered that she and Glenn Thrush have a book deal.

When your reporters are profiteering off access, you get solicitous puff pieces and court dictation.

Shameful.
Okay, the laaaast comment and then I’m done ranting.

I know a metric ton about dealing with narcissists.

Giving them a forum to lie unchallenged emboldens them.

It makes them worse.

It doesn’t “reveal” them.

It fuels them.

Nodding along is aiding and abetting.
