This seems to be my knowledge capture workflow. Is this useful to anyone? What does it reveal or obscure?
Ok how about this. Changed content types from a stage to a color, and separated read later tools from capture tools. Trying to figure out why it feels so simple to me internally but looks so complex here
These seem to be my basic rules of thumb for how and where to save content. Anything missing or unclear?

1/ We have 63 badass productivity geeks from around the world enrolled in my and @TaylorPearsonMe's Annual Review workshop this weekend. I wanted to outline my thinking on year-end reviews here, and why I think they're so critical
2/ Extensive research has shown that there are two moments in any experience that define your memory of it: the peak and the end (the Peak-End Rule). You can't do much about the peak of 2018 at this point, but the end is absolutely in your control
3/ Who cares how you remember 2018? It was a year in your precious life, a stepping stone to everything you are and will become. You literally have the opportunity to (re)tell the story of what it means, what you learned, what you will take with you into 2019

Anyone with experience knows that pregnancy tests can come back positive and not mean anything. Claiming she had a miscarriage a “couple weeks later” at 7-8 weeks pregnant is liberal use of the term “miscarriage”.
Unless a doctor verified, she merely got a false positive on a cheap pregnancy test. Which could be caused by anything from not peeing on the test right to pituitary problems to a urinary tract infection to taking anti-depressants or other medications.
The only verifiable truth here is that she didn’t get pregnant directly from Barack via the natural method. She’s trying to get in front of some news or take the bite out of anyone using this knowledge against them in the future.

What is the goal of your models? Interpretability is important, but not the only thing. Other measures exist, but understanding your model is important to prevent outcomes, override recommendations, and to connect models to other systems - or stacks of models & systems. #ODSCWest
Example: placing racks in the Santa Clara data centre. Considerations, restrictions on space, power, future use of space, etc. Also: People install racks. They need to be able to intervene based on info that the placement model doesn't have. #ODSCWest

The replace-libraries-with-Amazon thing is such a fascinating microcosm of the wretchedness of our current take culture.
First some hapless, unheard-of practitioner of the dismal science has, as is his discipline's wont, a very rational and logical epiphany about the market inefficiency of an institution whose very purpose is to provide a service outside the market.
In times of yore the take would have been read by a few other academics, or perhaps raised some eyebrows in a regional paper, and in either case been promptly forgotten.

Happy to oblige! The biggest reason that a few frameworks dominate the landscape is probably straightforward inertia. Most devs (those of use who chat about this stuff on Twitter are NOT representative) don't want to investigate and learn alternatives; they have better things 1/
to do, and engineering PMs aren't picking the 'best' technology, they're picking the safe one that means they'll be able to hire some poor sap to maintain everything a couple of years down the line. Nobody ever got fired for buying IBM. These dynamics favour incumbents. 2/
So does the cacophony of options. Why do tech meetups always serve pepperoni pizza, even though almost no-one would actually *choose* it given alternatives? Because it's something that very few people will object to. It gets the job done — it's 'good enough'. 3/

#THREAD: WHAT TRUMP'S EXECUTIVE ORDER DOES...AND DOESN'T DO.

Trump begrudgingly "caved" due to the backlash.

But, as it was all about holding the children hostage to get his demands...the order still pressures Congress to act quickly to avert the problems it delays and creates.
1. KEEPS FAMILIES TOGETHER...WITH BIG CAVEATS.

While the DOJ will continue to prosecute ALL adults crossing the border illegally, it keeps families together but only "where appropriate and consistent with law and available resources."

Leaves flexibility.
2. KEEPS FAMILIES W/ DHS.

Parents can stay with their children in detention with DHS, but the catch is only to the "extent permitted by law and subject to the availability of appropriations."

BIG CAVEAT...THE FLORES AGREEMENT PREVENTS CHILDREN FROM BEING DETAINED AFTER 20 DAYS.

Ok. I am not an overnight sensation. The media loves to spin things like that but I've been publishing for more than 20 years. When I was young, a kid even, I would buy the Writer's Market every year and submit my work to The Paris Review and the New Yorker.
I had no chance in hell but I genuinely believed that I was ready for those leagues. LOL. I didn't really understand what a literary magazine was until I went to @UNLincoln for my MA in Creative Writing. There I worked at Prairie Schooner.
I opened envelopes and sorted things and logged things. After a while I got to read submissions. And it was some of the best writing education I've ever had. If you want to grow as a writer, volunteer at a lit mag or small press!
