What I find truly depressing is that it's not just an endless cycle of terrorism, tragedy, thoughts, prayers, "too soon", move on, continue, forget, repeat next week... more than that being a cycle is its worse thab nothing being done. Gradually people in power make it worse...
...and they're doing it by continuing the above cycle mentioned, and adding to it with loosened restrictions, new loopholes, whipping up gun nuts into a paranoid frenzy, and putting in a damn solid effort to deflect the issue onto something else (mental health for example)...
...while also cutting any chance of doing anything to fix the problem they just redirected to. "It's mental health!" but they cut funding to anything treating mental health. "Schools aren't safe enough!" but they are gutting all funding to schools, no money for security.
..."there's just not enough information about gun data to do anything" but they also made it illegal to properly fund research on gun violence 22 years ago. (Look up the Dicky Amendment.)
After the Vegas the GOP immediately made it easier to purchase armor piercing rounds, fragmenting bullets, bump stocks, and silencers. Or a few months prior where they reversed the ban on lead ammo, which poisons things slowly and painfully if the initial shot doesn't kill them.
Things are not only just repeating themselves anymore, they're actively trying to slowly make things worse and worse, and they don't care who for. They don't care if it's children. They don't care about anything but money and compensating for their own insecurities.

Next, remember to stay angry. The NRA and gun nuts are diligent. They never stop. So, you shouldn't either. Find out who is supposed to be representing you and where you live, and never let up. Call them every day. On the actual phone. Don't text. Don't tweet. Don't email...
Call them. They have to take it.
Next, remember to flood them with good old fashioned snail mail. Again, not email, tweets or text. Snail mail. Paper and pen

Next, if you have fax, for some reason (I know, it's not the 90s anymore, but they still use it), fax them. They don't have the obligation to it as much as phone or snail mail, but it would still get their attention in a way they are incapable of ignoring.
Keep this up on a constant basis. Especially when there's gun bill up for a vote. Anytime something is introduced, about to be drafted, you contact them. Phone, snail mail, and fax, and if possible, show up in person.

Finally, vote in every election. Every one. If you hear about an election, you show up, and vote out anyone who didn't vote in your best interest.
