Some facts from the Border wall press conference.

4. All of these "walls" will be replaced with new construction. The new wall will look like this.

5. This is the Wall going up AT the border or primary wall. The plan is to have a wall system in the most needed areas. The wall system will have a primary wall at the border and a secondary wall about 150-300Ft behind it. It will look like this:
6. The secondary wall will be the stronger wall (.i.e Trump's wall) They will use, according to the border patrol, a combination of things learned from the prototypes and tech. The final wall will incorporate many features of the prototypes but will not be any particular one.

7. The omnibus allows Trump to build whatever type of wall he wants in San Diego, CA. (14 miles) both a primary and secondary walls. (28 mile total)
8. Construction was started Friday of last week at the Calexico location about 120 miles east of San Diego. as Trump stated at the signing of the omnibus. It was previously reported that it began in Feb but that report was incorrect.

9. The border patrol is asking for about 1,000 miles the wall system along the border. All of it to be with the new design. This will replace the crappy wall there now with new wall and add another 400-500 of wall in new places.
10. There are also new levee walls being built. Here is a picture of that type of wall.
11. the border patrol stated several times they view the $1.6 billion in funding as a down payment. All 110 miles will be started this year. There are some contracts still to be rewarded.
12. Trump has signed an EO that waved environmental regulations in Sept of last year citing a 2005 law. The courts have sided with the admin on this.
13. So to sum up. Funding has been approved for about 110 miles of border barriers. some contracts have already been awarded some are still to go. All projects are scheduled to be started this year.
14. The border patrol stated they got all the funding they asked for in the omnibus but with some strings. They have enough money to get to work securing the border. They restated that $25 billion should be enough to finish it all. Hope that helps clarify some things.
