1/ Hi everyone! The debate in the last few weeks over anti-Semitism and Holocaust denial have been hard. It’s not been easy being a British Jew. Many have been supportive which I’m grateful for - but I want to channel into something constructive. I need your help please [THREAD]
2/ I have been tweeting about Labour and anti-Semitism and trying, with others, to take a constructive approach. This has been met with support but also anti-Semitic comments including the guy who told me Auschwitz had a swimming pool like a leisure centre. Not good
3/ So here’s the thing. Next week from eve of April 11-12th it’s Yom haShoah, a day of Holocaust remembrance. There is an amazing project @yellowcandle18 which has distributed 18,000 yellow memorial candles. Each has a name on it to remind us of a single victim of the Holocaust 
4/ 18k is only a fraction of the 6 million Jews who died in the Holocaust but by remembering individual murders we can humanise the victims. This is a direct antidote to Holocaust denial, which focusses on technicalities and as I have personally experienced is still common
5/ I’m asking for 3 things. 1st, please retweet this thread to spread the word. 2nd, follow @yellowcandle18 and retweet and like their tweets. 3rd, on 11-12 April, people lighting candles will be tweeting about the person they are memorialising. Please help amplify that
6/ The @yellowcandle18 Project isn’t going to stop people denying the Holocaust, but hearing about individual victims - real people just like you and me - may make a few people think twice before spreading denial. Please support whatever your politics. Thanks so much /end
