Prototype assembly time - moved Causality to poker size from mini cards to aid legibility of symbols across the table (cards also currently have explanatory text on them)
Cards are printed on cheapest possible copy paper, cut and then sleeves with a Magic card as a backing - different color sleeves for different decks.
Playerboards are printed on cheap gloss cardstock, cut down the middle, then taped from the back so they fold.

These would likely be single piece mat in a production copy, but folding means I can pack my prototype small.
After game night - back at prototype assembly: now putting together the game board. I make my boards as cheap as I can without them being too slide-y. As one of few components that players don’t pick up and handle - i think it’s generally a waste of time to mount them.
Printed on same cheap gloss stock as the playerboards, but this time assembled into an 8fold. (680mm X 445mm)
This is the first version with tiles (previously the game had a static board)

Since this is the first set - I print on copy paper, then spray adhesive them to foamcore board. Future tile iterations I’ll just gluestick on top of these tiles.
Big, straight cuts are made with a rotary cutter, small cuts with an exacto knife.
And last, bagging up the player pieces by color
It’s rare that during a prototype update I’m assembling every component except when prepping copies for blind testing or for publishers. This was a nice exception as I passed my previous copy of the game off to my codesigner, so I was able to walk through the whole process.
Now it’s back to scribbling and glueing on top of that nice prototype you just saw me assemble. 🤷🏻‍♂️
Causality prototype 0.20 assembles - shown here set up for a 2p game.
