All of us demonstrators were standing at the crossing of Llúria/València streets… Shouting slogans, singing, jumping, throwing an egg or two (eggs don't count as violence)... So far so good.
My brother and I took the occasion to meet in front of the Government Delegation. He lives in Barcelona and I live in Vilamajor. We hadn't seen each other for 3 weeks and, you know, the family that rallies together sticks together.

No sooner have I hung up than, indeed, policemen get out of their vans and shoot (in the air), beating with their batons. Some people run off. Older people and kids run away, scared... Behind them, at a steady pace but not running, we head towards Bruc street via València street.
People start to leave. They're outraged but clearing the place when the police start running towards them, hitting those closer to them in the legs with their batons… Several girls fall down in front of the shop 'Flores Navarro' and some of them get beaten.
At the crossing of València/Bruc streets people stop, expectant, and start to sing slogans against the police -- that's when the vans arrive out of the blue and the real Mad-Max rally starts.
The police vans speed up trying to run over people.
Yes, you've read it right... @mossos d'Esquadra trying to run over ordinary citizens... Some people throw themselves on the floor or run away shocked. Some are crying or shouting hysterically, and some are standing up to the police.
Remember Tiananmen... A boy standing in front of the van and making it stop... Outraged people throw themselves onto the vans, throwing anything they find at them, breaking the side mirrors... It lasts just a moment.
The police vans arrive in a pack and start a race of fear, from that crossing to Girona and Aragó streets... 1, 2, 3, 4 times... That's when people use skips and whatever's around to build barricades to stop the vans.
The skips literally fly every time a van hits them... By the way, the owner of a white dented Toyota Yaris at Bruc/València streets turns out to be a police officer... Someone who can't drive very well.
That's when I fear for my integrity and decide to go home... I have alway thought that to be a policeman you need to be a bit of a bastard... Now I know that the HR director of @mossos is bloody Hannibal Lecter.
