Appreciate those who've kindly called my Gaza piece "unbiased." But while I do try to get beyond partisan talking points, anyone who tells you they're unbiased on one of the most fraught geopolitical & religious conflicts today is trying to sell you something—probably their bias.

The amount of effort many on the right & left invest in attacking reporters who expose anti-Semitism in their camps goes a long way toward explaining why the hate persists. People are more afraid of acknowledging anti-Semitism on their team than they are of anti-Semitism itself.
A healthy, self-confident political movement has nothing to fear from recognizing and expunging bigots from its midst. They know this only makes them stronger. A weak movement fears that a confrontation with the bigots will tear it apart, and so denies that the bigotry exists.
Here's the thing: Historically, every community has its anti-Semites! Admitting you've got some does not damn your movement. It's not the presence of anti-Semitism that defines your community--it's how you respond to it.

THREAD: I’m in Jerusalem this week for a @YadVashem seminar for journalists about the Holocaust, its legacy, and the challenges of preserving its memory. As we go, I’m going to be sharing what I’ve learned, especially things that surprised or moved me. Feel free to follow along.
In 1946, Yad Vashem was just an apartment in Jerusalem on King George St and another in Tel Aviv. The director, Holocaust survivor historian Sara Friedlander, started the archive w/ materials she brought w/ her from Hungary. She was killed in Israel’s War of Independence in 1948.
Rachel Auerbach was a member of the Warsaw Ghetto’s clandestine historical society Oneg Shabbos, which chronicled the story of its Jews. She was one of only 3 members who survived. Arriving in Israel, she founded Yad Vashem's oral history project to preserve survivor testimony.

This is extraordinarily ignorant and anti-Semitic. 6 million Jews were murdered in the Holocaust precisely because the Aryans, like Europeans in general, did not consider them "white."

Yup. The reason so many European Jews were murdered is because the citizens of so many European countries collaborated in their execution, while the rest of the world refused to let any Jewish refugees in.
Here's a crazy suggestion for the amateur historians of Twitter: Don't talk about the Holocaust if you don't know anything about the Holocaust. Don't attack efforts to remember the Holocaust if you clearly remember nothing about it.

1. Rand Paul doesn't make sweeping, bold statements. He is measured, in fact too measured. After his “altercation” wherein he suffered several broken ribs he made only statements when the rest of us would've been crying bloody murder. But he said this
2. Trump who does make bold statements, will periodically telegraph facts that appear fantastical because he seldom gets into details. We learn about the veracity of this statements only in retrospect.
3. Obama’s relationship to the circle of filth appears to be multilevel, he is connected via the Hezbollah-Cocaine-Iran Scandal that is slowly revealing itself. But it appears to be even more convoluted and deeper.
