So church was even more stressful than I had anticipated.
Today, the pastor said that it is better for your husband to beat you and take it(aka marital rape) than to go outside.
He also said a lot of things that I can't even begin to type. I was more surprise that I wasn't angry or ever leave in protest.
When will Nigerian pastors start teaching about respect and love in marriage? Subjugation is not what keeps any relationship
For those asking why I didn't leave or protest (1) I was invited and went to church with an uncle and his family (2) I wasn't going to embarrass them in their church, I stepped out and came back much later. Finally, we talked about it when we got back home

i’ve gotten death threats, rape threats … in fact, i almost filed a police report last month because of stalker-esque emails i got.

being a journalist isn’t always glamorous or fun or easy. it’s a hard, tiresome job. but we're in it for the longhaul. we're in it for a reason.
just remember that we journalists are humans, too.

so remember that at the end of the day, we’re just trying to do our best. our best job. and not for us, but for you all. so you all can be educated and be your best selves.
but for all of that, and even more so because of what happened today, we will still be back tomorrow.

why? because the people at the capital gazette matter, my fellow journalists matter, and because journalism as a whole matters.

First I want to say I really liked @notcolloquial's debating style. Attack, attack, attack. Good stuff. I think @notcolloquial controlled most of the debate against @thealthype.

#Today's story to #EndFamilySeparation Four months ago, Dad and 4-month-old entered at the Texas/Mexico border and requested #asylum. Dad and child were immediately separated and the baby put in ORR custody. #FamiliesBelongTogether
Dad was detained in a #Texas detention center where @RAICESTEXAS consulted. Dad accepted a deportation to be quickly reunited w/ his infant child. However, the Dad was deported & NOT his child. The now 8-month-old baby has been in ORR custody for 4 months. #EndFamilySeparation
The Mom and Dad now have once weekly Skype calls with their 8-month-old baby. That's right, folks. They Skype with an infant. #EndFamilySeparation #FamiliesBelongTogether
