🚨Asst. AG @HarmeetKDhillon is shaking up the DOJ’s civil rights division, and is ending a lot of what conservatives have seen as egregious selective justice.

Her division covers everything from race-based discrimination to Title IX to enforcing certain voting rights acts.

She’s also taking action on gender transition procedures and medical mandates that violate religious freedom.

🧵Here’s what she told me. After @HarmeetKDhillon sent out memos to each of the 11 sections of the Civil Rights Division (about 600 people, including 400+ attorneys) clarifying what the priorities are going to be under the new administration, HALF of the staff have chosen to go on unpaid leave.

It “triggered quite a few people in the department who have spent some of their careers doing certain agendas to say: ‘I don't want to work here anymore, because I don't want to do that. I wanted to do what I was doing in the last four years.’

That's not how it works. The Department of Justice is part of the executive branch. It's under the President, and so the President gets to set the agenda.

And so as long as we're hewing to what the statutory basis is that I've been assigned to do by Congress, it's fair for us to change our priorities.”
