Last month, the @HouseDemocrats impeached Donald John #Trump. When they did so, they adopted a resolution proclaiming that their impeachment was done in the name of the #HouseofRepresentatives and in the name of, and for, the United States of America. That formula, explaining that the House impeached someone and did so in the name of the House and in the name of the United States, is common. Yet the assertion is troubling.

Half or more of the country disapproves of the House’s impeachment, and of the Senate’s trial.

Despite #historicalrevisionism (that's a polite way of saying lies), #public #symbolic #lynching holds a distinct and honored role in establishing the conditions necessary to the independence of these former British colonies. To clarify, the Senate is NOT required to employ the services of the Chief Justice in the conduct of an impeachment trial except when the President is on trial. Excepting presidential impeachments of #Clinton and #Trump, the modern Senate has impeached through a process in which the matter tried in committee, rather than before the whole Senate, and then and submitted to the Senate for ultimate judgment by the entire body.

Is there any clause of the Constitution that is insignificant? Meaningless? Without purpose? Studying for the bar exam, it is a well-regarded saw that, on the multi-state bar exam, whenever one of the multiple-choice answers given is "The Republican Form of Government Clause" that choice is always ***wrong***.

Every year, between 7 and 10 thousand petitions seeking review by the Justices of the Supreme Court are filed. The vast bulk of those petitions are prisoner cases. About 3 thousand, "private paid" cases are filed by attorneys working for paying clients.

Out of the nearly 10,000 requests each year, #SCOTUS usually takes between 70 and 90 cases for full briefing and argument, or fewer than 5-6% of requests.

#Gaslighting alert: You may come across bot-amplified activists pitching the idea that #Republicans have been packing the Courts for years, and therefore, hypocritically object to Democratic Party machinations to inflict #courtpacking on America if Kamala Harris and her running mate are elected.

Homicide always requires a certain hubris: a pride that vaunts the "wants" or "needs" of the killer over the life of the killed. That hubris was on display with a posting from "Auntie Lynn." That posting directed itself to the women of Georgia (and other States adopting "heartbeat" abortion restrictions).

The behavior of Democrats in Congress "inspires" me to long for the days of yore, when a People treated like crap by those that governed figured out the best solutions to their problems.

What were those solutions? Protests. Some peaceful. Some not.

What did these protests include?

I truly appreciate the 12 gauge shotgun that @realDonaldTrump proves himself to be day after day.

But I wish he would get the terms he uses right. If he "#adjourns" the #Congress, they will go #home. And the #Constitution gives him the power to adjourn Congress when the House and the Senate cannot agree on adjournment.

But what he wants to do is call the Congress back to Washington. That act is the #convening of Congress.
