Before you press 'send' - Would you say those things to my coworkers who are shaped differently (read: thinner) than me?
I'm here to do the WEATHER for Hampton Roads' most accurate forecasting team.
Not have my body picked apart by strangers.
Y'all really wouldn't walk up to a stranger on the street and say those things. Why y'all walking in my inbox/mentions?

So I didn't have a Wednesday Weather Word (a subsidiary of the #ScienceBehind franchise) yesterday. So here's one for you on this (not) Wednesday: #BlueMoon
Yes I know this is astronomy not weather but it's timely so stick with me here #13newsnow#STEM#Astronomy#fullmoon
Check out this stellar (or should I say 'lunar'?) photo on our Skyview from this morning.
Good morning! Someone sent me a photo to ID last week and I thought it'd be a perfect time to bring back Wednesday's Weather Word (a subsidiary of #ScienceBehind)

Hard to spell
Difficult to say (at least for me)
And sometimes even challenging to see.
This sight is usually seen better around sunrise or sunset, due to the scattering of light during those times. #STEMeducation#ScienceBehind

each step of your life really prepares you for the next.
i'm sitting here thinking about how #isaias affected us in VA/NC and how if i never moved to Iowa, i might not have gotten the level of tornado/severe weather experience to prepare me for tropical coverage.
as tough as it was out there, i have no choice but to be grateful 🙏🏾

good morning, especially to any other black women and men who are not fully confident in/comfortable with their natural hair. i see you working on yourself, too 🖤
lupus and genetics = my hair is thin+probably weak. i still dk what im doing but she still grows
i don't need compliments.. just full #selflove which is still in progress
PS no, i won't wear my hair on TV. too much work and it needs protective styling+care vs manipulation 🤷🏾♀️

Good morning, neighbors
Low pressure near Wilmington, NC has an even higher chance of tropical development with this morning's update.
#13newsnow#13weather#tropics
The system is producing heavy rain but the question remains as to whether heavy rain stays out to sea or some of our neighborhoods get clipped with it
No flash flood watch as of this morning but that could change as invest #98L starts moving north
Good morning!
Last week we talked about aphelion and this week I've got something I call #WednesdaysWord (an obviously extremely creative name for a subsidiary of #ScienceBehind).
So let's do some science, shall we? #STEMeducation#STEMed
Last week, we spent time in space so let's bring it a little closer with noctilucent clouds
☁️ (the clouds don't really look like this but twitter emojis just ain't there yet so we make do 🤷🏾♀️)

Y'all remember my series #ScienceBehind that used to air on Wednesdays? It's cool if you don't - a LOT has been going on.
I don't have a new video but let's do a new installment via tweet thread (I know it's not an innovative idea but I remembered there's science this week)
Okay so on New Year's Day, we aired a segment on perihelion 🌍. Shameless plug here if you want a refresher
This heavy rain is expected to raise water levels quickly (if it hasn't already).
Let me know where you're seeing flooding. #13newsnow

. @CherylNelsonTV discussing negativity in the newsroom - fear of calling out sick, working long stretches, split shifts, verbal abuse, fear of retaliation
@mboltonwx@nwas@ametsoc@AMSEarlyCareer Imposter syndrome in meteorology as a WOC is very real. Many days I feel like my colleagues (not necesarily at my current station) may not see me as smart/capable/eloquent/etc enough or that I got to where I am because of a "quota" and not my degree. 1/@mboltonwx@nwas@ametsoc@AMSEarlyCareer Many days I feel like I am not smart/capable/eloquent/etc enough because I don't see too many WOC in the weather community. We're out here but the numbers in comparison are low. There's an unspoken pressure I think when you're one of few and 2/
