Here's an article about my coining of the word #brexit. See how the tragedy stems from the British political establishment's failure at any time to champion the fact that Britain was the leading power in the EU. 1/ I'm a Liverpool supporter. Imagine if all our supporters were told by Klopp that the team wasn't in fact top of the league but near the bottom. That the Premier League was run instead by enemies from Arsenal and Manchester City who made up rules to keep us from winning... 2/

Been saying it for a while: forget a GNU and forget a Lab anti no deal gvmt.

1/ Party opportunism will trump doing the right thing say two of the most depressing but truthful comments of the day from @Peston and @lewis_goodall

itv.com/news/2019-08-0… 2/The parties are all falling into the @BorisJohnson trap. A GE beats his enemies when at their most divided, unlike a ref.
And why would the SNP want to save us? Get a GE when they can sweep all Scottish seats for @Indyref. Keeping the UK united in the EU is not what they want.

1/ It's all scaremongering isn't it about #brexit and #drugs? Stockpiling, price hikes, and, as @MattHancock warns, dead patients. Well, here's the lowdown and it's not pretty. With or without #softbrexit.
A thread 2/ Patients with long-term conditions such as #diabetes, #asthma or #schizophrenia, #blood pressure, #heart problems or #cancer down to daily medicines for #rashes and skin problems, take for granted that they will be able to get their medicines when they need them.

1. Am I the only one infuriated with the view that if @theresa_may and @jeremycorbyn agree a #brexit #customsunion then all is fine. This ignores the fact that it is leaving the #singlemarket that is the killer for business making, importing or exporting products. Why? A thread.. 2/ Much of the commercial debate around #Brexit has focused on whether we stay in the #CustomsUnion or not. That is because this is the current battle between #Conservatives and #Labour. If Labour prevailed, and the UK remains in a Customs Union, then the tariff issue dies

Farmers face the biggest Brexit hit and still they don’t think they need to worry! THREAD
In a grim report published on Friday, the #government Agricultural, Horticultural and Development Board @TheAHDB predicted that post-Brexit #farming incomes would fall by 25%. @FarmingUK /1 This wasn’t just in an apocalyptic #NoDeal scenario. If it was, farmers seeing this figure could mutter Project Fear and carry on their arduous work. The problem is that this collapse occurs IN ANY BREXIT SCENARIO @bbcfarmingtoday. /2
