As many of you know, this has been a very difficult period for myself and my husband Brad as we have dealt with the impact of these accusations, but we are happy to see that this nightmare is finally drawing to a close. observer.com/2018/05/george…
As I stated before, I do not remember Mr. Brunton or any of the events he described from forty years ago, but I do understand that this was part of a very important national conversation that we as a society must have, painful as it might be.
It is in that spirit that I want folks to know, despite what he has put us through, I do not bear Mr. Brunton any ill will, and I wish him peace.
Brad and I are especially grateful for the many fans who stood by me throughout this ordeal. Your support kept us going, and we are so immensely thankful for you.

Judging from my feed, a lot of good folks out there could use some bucking up ahead of tomorrow's midterms. I, for one, am optimistic. People have said that's naive, that old-fashioned liberals like me always put too much faith in people only to be let down. Some thoughts: /1
I spent my childhood being told one thing about America, but living something entirely different. We were taught that we were equal under the law, and we pledged allegiance to a flag, but inside of barbed wire fences. The promise of America was so hollow as to be meaningless. /2
But my father once told me that America is a democracy, as great as the people who inhabit it, but also as fallible. It was the people who had failed us, led by leaders who had crushed our dreams, caused the nation to rise up in fear against us, who were wholly innocent. /3

Trump boasts that the troops he is deploying at our border will turn back any migrants who seek to cross it. This is not only morally reprehensible, it is illegal. Why? Because we have laws that require us to process and accept refugees who seek asylum here. A history: /1
During World War II (Yes, I was around then, but in an internment camp) the United States and many other nations turned away Jewish refugees who sought to escape the Holocaust. Those refugees perished in death camps. The horror of that led us to declare "Never Again." /2
Part of that pledge was for the nations of the world, including the United States, to agree to accept refugees who were fleeing persecution at home. We would never again turn away groups of people who were being subjected to violence and death in their own countries. /3

The state of our union…is perilous. Somehow, a megalomaniacal dotard managed to con less than half the population into thinking he should be in charge of the nukes. That’s nuts, and scary, but here we are. /2
With the help of a complicit, cowardly, and power-obsessed GOP willing to put politics before principle, Trump has managed to get away with the kind of conduct that long ago should have brought an end to this embarrassing circus. /3

Any object will do. You can surrender to a tree, you can surrender to a river, you can surrender to anything, your wife, your husband, your guru.
Even through stones, people have attained because it is not a question at all to what you #surrender.

You surrender, and that brings the whole thing, that opens the door. Surrendering, the effort to surrender brings an opening to you.
If you are open to stone, you become open to the whole existence, because it is only a question of opening. How can you be open to a stone, and not open to a tree?

1: No paragraphs

Most know this by now, but I still see it happening

Don't write paragraphs with more than one idea in it

Sounds simple, but a lot of you screw this up

This is especially true for emails
Someone I see who is very good at this is @SCHM7DT, take a look at his emails, do you ever see a giant paragraph?

Note the smarminess. The smugness. The sophomoric claims to knowing how the job is really done, compared to Team Trump. Note the willingness to compare Trump unfavorably to others. Oh, and the tweets go on and on here, this is just a short curation, they can all be read here.
It went together with a collective tone of condemnation from the press about Trump cancelling the cemetery visit due to rain, as if he did that because he didn't want to honor the troops.

It was only banter. Of course. Snowflake women are easily confused. I remember when my boss wrote me a long, explicit letter. Banter. The work meeting with a man whose opening line was “what are the chances we’ll be rolling around in a hotel room in an hour?” #onlybanter
The interviewee who extracted my number from the PR company and wouldn’t stop calling. The colleague who lunged & then accused me of leading him on. The MP who texted about my boots. During Prime Minister’s question time. #onlybanter
I remember so many examples of banter, I couldn’t possibly list them all here. And sure I’ve forgotten many more examples. Either because it’s #onlybanter and doesn’t matter or because one way to cope with the reality of routine unwanted sexual approaches is to try to ignore them

I did something similar to this 5 years ago, in anticipation of EC & @theroots' Wise Up Ghost LP, on tumblr.

(You can still find all those posts if you look, although a lot of the YouTube links etc are now dead ends. It was 40 Days Of EC then, so for 2018 I'm upping it to 45.)
Mostly I will be going chronologically from the early years right up to the present, but it feels right to start out with Costello's 2002 song, "45."

I read a short #InspiringStory and found it #TooGoodNotToShare...

A famous writer was in his study room. He picked up his pen and started writing :

✖️Last year, I had a surgery and my gall bladder was removed. I had to stay stuck to the bed due to this surgery for a long time
✖️The same year I became 60 years & had to give up my favourite job.I had spent 30 years of my life in this publishing company.

✖️The same year I experienced the sorrow of the death of my father.
✖️And in the same year my son failed in his medical exam because he had a car accident. He had to stay in bed at hospital with the cast on for several days. The destruction of car was another loss.

At the end he wrote:
