Defense One: USAF waiting up to a year for aircraft parts that could be 3-D printed much faster: defenseone.com/business/2018/…
Problem isn't technology; it's manufacturers who are still around, no longer produce the needed parts, but still retain intellectual property rights. USAF currently lacks policy/procedures to deal with that problem. 3-D printing would not only deliver parts faster, but cheaper
Example: toilet seat cover for C-17 transport costs $10,000 through existing supply channels. 3-D printed model costs $300.
