For any @github folks wondering how a Microsoft acquisition might play out, a few thoughts from someone who went through this a little over a year ago.
1/ Microsoft does a lot of M&A and their venture integration (VI) process reflects this. It's a well oiled machine. The MSFT folks are generally super knowledgeable, helpful, and kind. Ask questions.
2/ Avoiding disruption is one of the key tenets of the venture integration process. The VI team will go out of their way to avoid even the most trivial disruptions in your day-to-day biz. Don't be shy about raising concerns.
3/ No you won't have to use Windows or change up your dev environment. That would be pretty disruptive, no? Also this isn't your daddy's Microsoft. If you have a specific concern (e.g. VPN from Linux workstation) just ask.
4/ For folks coming from startup land, the HR benefits and comp packages are impressive, but also a little overwhelming due to lots of moving parts. Take time to grok everything, and prepare a list of questions for your VI HR reps.
Of course no two acquisitions are alike and Deis was a much smaller deal, so YMMV. That said, if any GitHub folks have questions, my DMs are open.

Welcome to the fam 😘
