EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt has behaved scandalously. He's sold out Americans' environmental protection to polluters and industry, and made himself ridiculous. He may also have broken the law.

Today we asked the FBI and DOJ to open a criminal investigation of Scott Pruitt. 1/
"Pruitt has used his public office and official, taxpayer-funded resources for the personal gain of himself and his family, in violation of federal law."

His abuse of position and taxpayer resources for personal enrichment was established this week: 2/ washingtonpost.com/national/healt…
Asked about using his position and official resources to benefit his family financially by securing a Chick-fil-A franchise for his wife, Scott Pruitt publicly confirmed the report on video. 3/
Pruitt used his position to secure a consulting job worth $2000 for his wife, who organized a conference at which Pruitt spoke.

Pruitt afterwards met at EPA with various parties from that conference, including the person who paid his wife. We don't know what they discussed. 4/
In March we learned of Pruitt's special rent deal with an energy lobbyist, including rent-free lodging for his daughter.

Pruitt testified to Congress that his lobbyist-landlord hadn't lobbied the EPA and had no business before the EPA. This was false. 5/ apnews.com/374e522f4a5b47…
At least one of the clients of Pruitt's lobbyist landlord's firm benefited from EPA decisions while Pruitt was a tenant. He lobbied the EPA for multiple companies while Pruitt lived in his condo, so other clients may have benefited as well. 6/ nytimes.com/2018/04/02/cli…
Federal ethics laws bar public officials from using their position or staff for private gain. Pruitt has done just that.

His attempts to enrich his family and the condo arrangement with lobbyists may have constituted criminal conduct punishable by fine or even time in prison. 7/
For these reasons, we formally requested that the FBI open an investigation into Administrator Scott Pruitt’s conduct to assess whether he broke the law, including criminal statutes prohibiting public corruption. 8/8
