New York Attorney General Barbara Underwood is suing the Trump Foundation over what she calls “extensive and persistent violations of federal law,” her office announced today.
President Trump and three of his children (Donald J. Trump, Jr., Ivanka Trump, and Eric Trump) are named in the lawsuit in their roles as directors of the foundation.
The substance of the suit alleges “unlawful political coordination” with Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign, “self-dealing” that benefits Trump’s businesses and other violations of the law.
Underwood’s suit seeks to dissolve the Trump Foundation and collect nearly $3 million in penalties.

JUST IN: The Department of Homeland Security has announced that migrants seeking asylum will no longer be allowed to wait in the U.S. while their claims are pending in immigration court. The migrants will be processed by DHS and given a notice to appear in court.
According to DHS, the Mexican government will provide humanitarian visas, work authorization and other protections to the migrants while they wait in Mexico for the outcome of their asylum cases.
Currently, people claiming asylum are allowed to stay in the U.S. — sometimes in detention — while their claim is pending in immigration court. A new DHS policy will send such migrants to Mexico for the duration of that process.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi agreed to a deal that would likely give her the votes to become the next speaker of the House but only for a maximum of four years.
The agreement negotiated between Pelosi and a small group of House Democrats who vowed to oppose her during the floor vote needs to be approved by the full House Democratic Caucus, which is expected to vote early next year.
The deal limits terms for the top three leaders to three terms, including any they served when the Democrats had the House majority between 2007 and early 2011.

Just In: General Motors reported today that it plans to trim 15 percent of its workforce in North America, as part of a broader effort to phase out smaller car models.
General Motors laid out a plan to end production of cars next year at plants in Detroit, Lordstown, Ohio and Oshawa, Ontario.
