I'm back at the scene of the Westminster shooting this morning. This is the Cedarwood Square Office Complex where police said the shooting happened.
The parking lot is quiet this morning. Where officers, evidence markers and police investigators swarmed yesterday now sits a baby bunny with a whimsical castle tower holding a sign for Children's Dentistry a few feet away.
Just saw a scene that brought me to tears. Brandy Navarette lives near the shooting. His 6-y/o granddaughter Lilly Diaz wanted to bring flowers for the little boy that died, she said. They brought flowers, a rosary & prayed in the parking lot. She asked me why he had to die.
Diaz and her grandpa left these at the parking lot and walked off hand in hand, her talking about how she didn't understand what a shooting was but that she'd like to go to the zoo.
Just spoke with Loretta Hocking who owns the Miracle Touch Massage business in the Cedarwood Square Office complex. She was working yesterday when she heard shots, called police & ran out to check on the children & adults shot.
With tears welling in her eyes, Hocking said hearing the boy who she ran out to check on after the shooting died last night hit her hard. She's checking on her 2 massage therapists working today.
Another family who was here yesterday during the shooting brought flowers. They don't want to be named, but they came to pick up the car they left in the parking lot yesterday. They picked glass and debris off the hood.
