(1/8) Between 2001 and 2004 I worked for Airbus via an IT Test Consultancy. I designed and wrote the over-arching Test and Acceptance Strategy for the Engineering Division of Airbus.
(2/8) My strategy provided a framework for validating all Computer Aided Design software used to create the Airbus A380.
(3/8) I then implemented that strategy across Airbus sites in the UK, France, Germany and Spain. Like the component parts of the aircraft themselves, I travelled freely and extensively between Bristol, Toulouse, Hamburg and Madrid where I worked.
(4/8) I was proud to be a part of a successful Pan-European project, and working with friends and colleagues across Europe, it made me proud to be European.
(5/8) It does not alas surprise me that these achievements and thousands of jobs are now at risk thanks to the short-sighted and narrow minded ideology of the Brexiteers.
(6/8) I am embarrassed by their divisive & jingoistic nationalism, their disregard & contempt for essential foreign workers from fruit pickers to nurses & doctors, & bewildered by their ignorance or indifference to the inevitable economic crises they are so keen to usher in.
(7/8) I am also concerned for my daughter’s German boyfriend’s ability to remain in this country with her and feel for the millions of young people whose futures have been curtailed thanks to the prejudices of their grandparents.
(8/8) I’m therefore glad to hear Airbus speaking out today, and hope many other corporations will stand up too. I may well be a proud Cornishman born and bred, but Je Suis Européen.
