England aren’t going to come anywhere near winning the World Cup. They’re just not good enough. Their easy draw is a bad thing for them as it won’t be til the knockouts that they have an important game. Jordan Henderson is rubbish.
Belgium are similar. Great performances so far. But against very weak opposition. Their defence isn’t strong enough to beat a good, well-organised team. Especially with Boyata.
Portugal aren’t just a one-man team and could actually do something. As well as that, any team with Ronaldo is capable of greatness. He will stop at nothing to win. That’s what makes him incredible. Messi is already incredible so maybe doesn’t need to work as hard.
Brazil and Germany have stuttered, but that adversity is the kind of thing that makes champions. Both far better in attack than in defence, but goals win games.
Spain’s win against Iran was proof that they have the nerve to win bad games. Champions are the teams who win even when they play poorly. They should have beaten Portugal. Any other day, that Ronaldo free was going into the wall.
France have wonderful players, but they’re perhaps too young and immature. Even more so than that, their manager isn’t very good. I’m expecting a humiliating exit followed by a new job for Zidane.
Mexico are doing great but don’t have the depth to go too much further. Croatia, on the other hand, have a great squad and a clever manager. Potential semi-finalists. As are Colombia. They only lost the first game due to a ridiculously stupid handball.
Switzerland should advance instead of Serbia. The Albania-Kosovo thing will have bonded their squad with the captain and team sticking up for the Albanians in the squad. They could end up with Mexico in the next round too which is very winnable.
Nigeria, Uruguay, Russia, or whoever else makes it through are just there to make up the numbers in the round of 16.
