Middle-aged male Doctor Who fans going gammon makes me happy. Been advocating a female Doctor since the day I learned about regeneration, though I have been mostly burnt out on the formulaic nature of the show these last few years.
I liked S8 and thought the show got somewhat re-energised, but bar an unexpected flourish of quality in the 2nd half of S9, the show has since been too stale to be passionately angry about. I don't remember ANY S10 episode bar the finale, and that's an entire companion's era.
Is a female Doctor enough to recharge a flagging show? Not really, but it's a good thing. I'm expecting more of the same from the big bland BBC prime-time machine, but hope to be surprised and am enjoying my break from this terrible fandom, which is a cult of fetishising boredom.
