A massive underdog who was largely written off as certain to lose even a few months ago, @Ocasio2018, appears poised to not just pull of it but stomp her opponent by 12+ points.

Ocasio-Cortez's opponent, Joe Crowley, was among the most powerful House Dems and was thought to be a potential replacement to Nancy Pelosi.
He out-raised Ocasio-Cortez to the tune of $1.5 million to about $50k.
He won his last election by about 60 points.

An irony here: NY Dems hold federal and state primaries on different dates.
The turnout tonight was pure in a way. It was people who wanted to vote in this House race. Ocasio-Cortez turned them out.

Had it been nearly any other state, Crowley probably would have rode the straight ticket wave.
Ironically, the far left was grousing about these split primaries just yesterday... and then tonight they likely enabled Ocasio-Cortez to win.

States usually gang up federal and state primaries to save money.
Maybe splitting out smaller races produces more competitive races and gives challengers more room to compete and win...

She ran one heck of a race, knocked off a formidable opponent and proved a whole lotta people wrong - including me. Got this one dead wrong.
