How can you turn heads with your summer style? First, understand that the bar is set very low. The avg guy dresses like a total bum. That being said, here are a few outfit ideas to help you out:
Basic t-shirt + shorts outfit. The key to pulling this look off (as always) is being in stellar shape. Shorts should be above the knees and you should wear loafer socks for a sockless look:
Why shorts above the knees? Because they make you look taller (or at least not as short as you are). Shorts that hit you above the knee give you better proportions. Plain and simple.
Another way to stand out in the summer is by wearing white chinos or denim. You won’t see too many guys even attempt a look like this:
If you’ve got a high-contrast (dark hair + light skin) go with the indigo button up shirt you see here. If you have a low contrast (light hair + light skin) go with a lighter blue or even light pink button up shirt.
Next, you may have the need to wear a suit in the summer. My suggestion: have a linen/wool option on deck. Combine it with a dressier polo and you’ve got a stellar warm weather, polished look:
Tropical shirts. I’ve talked a lot about these guys. Fantastic option for anything beach or pool related. Just remember, when wearing something as bold as a tropical shirt you want to keep the rest of your outfit as understated as possible:
Lastly, popover shirts don’t get nearly enough love as their close relative the polo, but they are a great alternative. Combined with a pair of statement trousers like these cotton/linen checked trousers you'll easily blow away your competition:
