Earlier, we talked about pain in rodents. Now let's talk about something a little more fun. What's your #ThesisSoundtrack?

To take a quick break from work, I started making a #ThesisSoundtrack playlist--a playlist of songs that relate to my thesis work. Here are some samples:
#ThesisSoundtrack song 1: R.E.M.'s "Orange Crush"

I study the spine, so I figured it made sense to start with "I've got my spine, I've got my Orange Crush"
#ThesisSoundtrack song 2: more R.E.M., this time "Everybody Hurts"

for the intro section, I should remind the audience that "everybody hurts sometimes"
#ThesisSoundtrack song 3: Hall & Oates "No Brain No Pain"

This song title is scientifically accurate! While nociception occurs at the nerve/spinal cord level, the experience of "pain" requires a brain
#ThesisSoundtrack song 4: Violent Femmes (covering Culture Club) "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me"

Now we're more into the methods--all of those behavioral assays
#ThesisSoundtrack song 5: The Ramones "Needles and Pins"

My von Frey filaments aren't quite needles and pins, but all three can be painful mechanical stimuli!
#ThesisSoundtrack song 6: Dinosaur Jr. "Feel the Pain"

When evaluating whether or not my rats are exhibiting nocifensive behaviors, I have to "feel the pain of everyone"
I may have an easier time than most (since there are lots of songs about pain!). But what do you work on (science or otherwise) and what should go on your #ThesisSoundtrack???
