NEW: The federal judiciary now expects to have enough money from other sources to keep the courts largely business-as-usual during the shutdown through Jan. 18 (previously it was Jan. 11) — this is the latest from the Administrative Office of the US Courts (HT @hsu_spencer)
In order to make the funds that the judiciary does have (absent a congressional appropriation) last as long as possible, "courts have been asked to delay or defer non-mission critical expenses, such as new hires, non-case related travel, and certain contracts"
DOJ, of course, is already affected by the shutdown, so most judges have been approving requests or issuing blanket orders to delay civil litigation involving the federal govt during the shutodwn (criminal cases still have to proceed as usual)

Some fireworks in court this morning as a judge criticized the lawyer representing Concord Management & Consulting in the special counsel Russian troll farm case for his language and harsh words about Mueller's office in filings — "unprofessional, inappropriate, and ineffective"
The judge told attorney Eric Dubelier that his strategy was "ineffective" and that his approach to filings — including pop culture quotes (see: assets.documentcloud.org/documents/5676…) and accusing Mueller's office basically of lawlessness — was "undermining your credibility in this courthouse"
"Knock it off," Judge Dabney Friedrich told Dubelier. This then led to a heated exchange where Dubelier said he needed to consult his client since the judge had accused of unprofessional conduct, and now there might be bias from the judge. There's no bias, the judge replied.

On July 25, 2012 Taliban fighters in Kunar province Afghanistan successfully targeted a US Army CH-47 helicopter with a new generation Stinger missile. The terrorists didn't properly arm the missile, so it didn't explode, it only downed the chopper. #Benghazi
The next day, an EOD team arrived to pick through the wreckage and found unexploded pieces of a missile casing that could only belong to a new generation Stinger missile. Lodged in the right nacelle, they found one fragment that contained an entire serial number.

(2) First, the numbers.

22 of the 103 children under the age of 5 remain separated from their parents.

HHS says these kids were brought by people who were not their parents or had extensive criminal histories, including murder, kidnapping, etc.

(3) The second group of children in HHS custody is much larger. The administration reported to the judge earlier this week that 900 out of the nearly 3,000 children over the age of 5 taken from their parents have not been reunited.

BREAKING: Trump administration releases new numbers on day of court ordered deadline to reunite 2,551 migrant kids separated from parents at border.

They say 711 children STILL separated, *not eligible* for reunification.

Won't say whether they intend to try to reunite them.
Last month we all asked “where are the toddlers and girls?”

Tonight we should all be asking about 711 kids the government says are “ineligible” for reunification.

Deadline has passed.

After taken them, will Trump and company even *try* to reunite them all?

We just don’t know.
To be super clear: just over half of separated kids have been reunited by the deadline to reunite them all.

The administration is declaring victory, saying zero eligible are left in ICE custody.

That ignores 711 other kids.
