What do I need money for?

That same $10 could buy a struggling family a meal, and if enough people believe that is a more productive use of their money, I will be on the news and don't need ads.

(Plus it's improving lives instead of annoying people)

While we are talking about opportunity costs, that same $10 could help someone find a Maine business they love, and help a small business land a new client.

Who needs postcards when you can help them grow their business? Wouldn't you rather get this than a flyer?

Millions of dollars are wasted every year with folks selling you a political product they can't deliver that you don't really want anyway.

Let's get back to basics.

Be honest.

Be reasonable.

Do the job well for fair pay.

Help people.

I'd like to send my big THANK YOU out to everyone today.

I left last week to the men to celebrate or lick wounds.

I started with 2 goals, both accomplished:

✔️ Incumbent no longer making law

✔️ Find a way to make campaigning not suck while getting $ OUT

Final 1st round vote count looks like 16,260; 5.73% of the votes.

I spent <$800 of my own money, accepted no campaign contributions (probably <$750, I rounded up on stamps - I'd rather estimate high).

🚫NO CAMPAIGN SIGNS!
Bad for the planet, expensive and annoying.

👊Instead we made our own or had signs that could be downloaded, printed on a regular printer, taped in windows, then recycled.

I had no idea how incredibly bad media coverage had become until I ran for office...maybe it's always been bad.

I was an active participant in this mess. I'm sorry.
For all the people who had real, legitimate, interesting, newsworthy stories that I thought were being whiny that they didn't get covered.

I'm sorry. I should have listened. You were right.
For the people I wrote off as nutty when you told me that the way candidates were covered was a viscious circle; polls were free advertising for those who least needed it.

I shouldn't have rolled my eyes or heralded the press's right to cover, forgetting their responsibility.

1/ Columbus Dispatch reports Ohio Aviation Association (OAA) wants the state to spend $15 million annually to lure cross-country & international flights. Public money would ensure flights hit profitability targets. Let’s unpack this.

2/ This is an incredibly bad idea: (1) this subsidy would be a massive upward redistribution to multi-billion dollar corporations to benefit wealthy flyers; and (2) this isn't how market capitalism is supposed to work.

1/ "Silicon Valley has Peaked" is a deeply broken conclusion. What has actually happened is that "Silicon Valley/SF is full from a housing standpoint" because of zoning policies preventing significant new construction. This makes other cities relatively more attractive.
2/ "In terms of physical infrastructure, cities benefit from economies of scale. If the population of a city doubles, its physical infrastructure must increase only by a factor of 1.85. But on the social interaction side, attributes scale by a superlinear factor of 1.15."
3/ Startups and satellite offices of SV firms are not often moving to small towns because of physical phenomenon like energy use and social phenomenon like population concentration increasing optionality. You can wish that that was not true, but that's not in the data we have.

10) Cultures are not matters of taste but systems of adaptation to specific circumstances that may prove irrelevant or even counterproductive in other settings. Humans live in a wide variety of habitats. Variations in behavior are too complex to be informed by instinct alone.
11) Markets always apply the most pressure on the weakest holders.

An efficient market is one which removes assets from weak hands.

1/ The theory: John Brennan, former FBI director, masterminded a plot to take down Trump: He used FBI informants to infiltrate the Trump campaign and plant evidence of Russian collusion. That way, if HRC lost, the Deep State could take out Trump with the planted evidence.
2/ Before you roll your eyes, consider this: It's a great story. Everyone likes rooting for the underdog and the victim. The story is deeply appealing, and is one of the most universally beloved plot lines.
Also, if enough people believe it, it won't matter what Mueller finds.
