Probably the most comprehensive study on social unrest in Europe, studying the period 1919-2008 this paper finds a link between austerity and social unrest. 2/

So very annoyed with @clarefoges' inane article praising strongmen that I think it's worth noting a few germane points. First off, while occasionally authoritarian governments do produce growth, overall evidence points to lower rates of growth & wages academic.oup.com/qje/article/11… 1/n

2. This hypothesis is a collaboration between my wife and I, and is based on longstanding research + some new studies that have come out in the last year or so.
3. Crohn’s disease is a chronic inflammatory condition of the gastrointestinal tract. Like many of the other inflammatory bowel diseases, it can be a debilitating illness that makes life a living hell. If it gets bad enough, it can kill.
