Rascal spent 17 years with the same mailman. His nemesis. He barked like no tomorrow when the mail box opened every day, especially if I was on a call. A sweet dog barking behind a closed door trying to sound vicious.

This nice mailman brought a dog treat every day he came and had to leave it on the steps because of the “ferocious” barking. He still brought the treat every day.

Last week, after 14 years of refusing his treat from the enemy mailman, for whatever reason, he took he treat our of his hand for the first time.
Then on Thursday I watched Rascal breathe his last breath after one of his best days ever— 2 new visitors who loved dogs, a short walk with @somuchweirdness, and a treat from Bill that he finally accepted.
