@FrecklesXX20 @DMRDynamics @Blythe_Gryphon @neuropatriot ADHD (I wont say never, but damn close) is rarely a standalone disorder. Many many intelligent gifted folks in this category 4m artists2 scientists 2athletes etc. Many R "twice gifted" meaning super smart (sometimes across t/board& s/t in particular areas) w/ADHD & usually an LD
@FrecklesXX20 @DMRDynamics @Blythe_Gryphon @neuropatriot difficulty usually emerges when ADHD/LD lingers unidentified/untreated as anxiety& depression (MDD/GAD) often set in & obscure ADHD/LD symptoms when emergent b/c they present as more clinically urgent issues (& they often are). (2)
@FrecklesXX20 @DMRDynamics @Blythe_Gryphon @neuropatriot But when treating MDD/GAD especially if cognitive issues arise, you general ask "whats driving the train"(thank you Ret Col Dr. Lynch) (& it could be a lot of things but this is relating specifically to ADHD/LD). Are cognitive difficulties t/result of MDD/GAD or possibly (3)
@FrecklesXX20 @DMRDynamics @Blythe_Gryphon @neuropatriot the result of untreated ADHD/LD driving MDD/GAD. If so, treating ADHD concurrently with MDD/GAD often results in a more rapid reduction in affective distress levels than otherwise expected b/c the person, often for the first time, feels able to organize themselves to cope (4)
@FrecklesXX20 @DMRDynamics @Blythe_Gryphon @neuropatriot with their environment (eg better attention leads to better retention of class materials better test grades and completed homework turned in on time etc). Bottom line for ADHD: Imagine being really smart or creative or passionate about something but not being able to (5)
@FrecklesXX20 @DMRDynamics @Blythe_Gryphon @neuropatriot organize yourself well enough to express it. As for LD many folks have an LD with or without ADHD but they do tend 2cluster around neurodevelopmental issues exposures or conditions. To have an undiagnosed LD is painful, not just academically but the residual burden of (6)
@FrecklesXX20 @DMRDynamics @Blythe_Gryphon @neuropatriot internalized blame/shame and judgement from what others levied against you "you're not trying", "you're just being lazy", "you're just too stupid" is often traumatic itself and crippling (same for ADHD) and takes some amount of therapeutic treatment to allow the person to (7)
@FrecklesXX20 @DMRDynamics @Blythe_Gryphon @neuropatriot re-engage with academics leading to manifesting their goals talents and dreams. Its a hike no matter what in life but folks who finally get the chance via treatment to move forward from stuck places often find that through struggle theyve developed an uncommon level (8)
@FrecklesXX20 @DMRDynamics @Blythe_Gryphon @neuropatriot of endurance, strength and passion re: their vision to see them through obstacles. (9).
