I sort of understand this take, but Cerno et al are not ones who stupidly fired James Gunn. They posted tweets.

It was stupid cowardly Disney, stupid Alan Horn in particular, who fired Gunn, and that’s who deserves criticism.

We are treating the corporate responses to Online Outrage Outbreaks as if they are a natural law-of-physics response to them

Not so

They are decisions, made by people

Stupid, cowardly, meritless people who deserve our withering contempt

There is no law of physics that says that Disney had to respond to Cerno’s campaign, whatever you think of that campaign, by firing Gunn

The only actual *tangible action* on the table here to criticize or not is Disney’s firing of James Gunn

So criticize THAT

I understand critiquing Cerno’s campaign but really, it did not *have to* result in *any* action on Disney’s part

Here’s how I reacted to it

-wait what’s going on, what is Cerno talking about, Gunn’s no pedo

-oh I see, he’s linking to old joke tweets

-oh I get it

-I see what the MAGAs are doing, they’re making a point about double standards

-Got it.

And then I moved on and forgot about it

Until I saw the news that Gunn was stupidly fired, by stupid Alan Horn at stupid Disney.
