Today's defection have been on the cards for months. Most of the defectors know they will not win tickets on the APC platform for their reelection.

Other than Kwankwaso and Saraki, none of the others are political heavyweights. Most rode on the shoulders of Buhari or Tinubu.
Kwankwaso has the most at stake. With Ganduje preventing him getting the Senatorial election ticket, he had to jump ship. But Kwankwaso also wants the PDP presidential ticket. Will he, Atiku, Saraki, Tambuwal (if he defects), tear the PDP to pieces for the ticket??
If Kwankwaso does not get the PDP presidential ticket, and is beaten in the 2019 elections by the APC candidate, his political career is over. Or at least on hold for a few years. If he loses the presidential ticket, but wins the Kano Senate race, then he can plot for 2023.
If I am Atiku, I will watch my back carefully whenever Saraki is near me. He will not hesitate to plunge a knife into it.

Atiku is the one with the most to lose by today's defections. He will now have to fight hard and dirty for the PDP ticket. T
When Saraki destroyed his own father and sister politically, he showed loyalty means nothing to him.

I almost feel sad for the PDP with Saraki in it. He has been a treacherous snake in the APC. If he plays the same game with the PDP, he will rent their umbrella to shreds.
It is a day of mixed fortunes for the APC. It makes 2019 harder but also easier in some ways.

The next few weeks will see more defections. From APC to PDP, but also from PDP to APC. People who lose tickets will seek to cross over.

PMB is not GEJ. This is not 2015.
Edit of a previous tweet: *rend their umbrella to pieces* not *rent*

Grrrrrr @ twitter that does not allow edits or make allowances for mistakes made when tapping away on a tiny phone keypad... 🙄
