The NYT should have standards for addressing 2018 issues if they’re going to cover them. To fail to do so is to fail to do their jobs. They failed in publishing Ben Brantley’s piece tonight as it was written. The whole thing is embarrassing — to him, to the artists, to the NYT.
Yes, I just read through the whole thing — nytimes.com/2018/07/26/the… — and it’s all awful. The sneering nature of the entire piece is distasteful, but the way he writes about Peppermint and her nonbinary character is so demeaning and dismissive ...
... and, as I agreed with @Will_Kellogg earlier, a failure of NYT editorial policy.
