JUST IN: Natalia Veselnitskaya — the lawyer in the Trump Tower meeting — was indicted related to her alleged actions the Prevezon matter (a hearing for which she also attended on that day in June 2016) on Dec. 20, 2018. The case was unsealed today. assets.documentcloud.org/documents/5677…

Of course, you need a vacancy to have a vacancy. And, from all that we know and have been told, Justice Ginsburg's surgery was successful at removing the nodules, there is no other evidence of disease, and she is working from home and is planning to return to work. But ...
... Politico's reporting is not telling us about Ginsburg's status. It's telling us about what the White House and Sen. Graham's committee are already doing should there be a vacancy. And that — and the fact that it's happening — is news.

In the grand jury subpoena matter, over the past 24 hours, the Post has reported — washingtonpost.com/politics/court… — that the corporation is "a foreign financial institution" and CNN has reported — cnn.com/2019/01/09/pol… — that lawyers from Alston & Bird have been involved in the case.

BREAKING: Supreme Court denies the foreign country-owned company's request to stay a contempt order resulting from its refusal to comply with a grand jury's subpoena. Chief Justice Roberts' "administrative stay" is vacated, so the result is the contempt order is back in effect.
That order of the court follows this request, made Monday but put on the docket today, to file a cert petition in the case under seal. Not clear what will happen with that now, but the contempt order (and associated fines) will now be back in place.

Part of why Putin poisons and murders people is to discourage that kind of cooperation. But if she does, there’s gotta be a lot she could tell prosecutors.
