What does it mean to <understand> something? Here are some possible dimensions of understanding.
If you understand <X> then...
1. you possess compressed data about X in the form of a simple model, theory, algorithm or axiomatic system.
2. you can use #1 in order to make predictions or derive new facts about X.
3. you can use #1 in order to solve a concrete problem involving X.
4. you can derive general rules and concepts from #1 and apply them to different but related problems.
5. you can communicate knowledge about X by teaching/explaining/programming something to perform abilities #1-4.
6. you are able to rederive or rediscover abilities #1-5 from first principles.
7. you are able to consciously execute all of the aforementioned abilities.

To understand why some people perceive the coordinated corporate action against Alex Jones to be deeply worrying, consider the following hypothetical country:
Its government guarantees all human rights as long as citizens do not live within autonomous communes.

98% of the population live within an authoritarian commune that exerts arbitrary justice.

Outside of this commune is desert and a few oases populated by trolls and monsters.
Such coordination suggests that those companies constitute an information cartel that increasingly controls what the majority of the population can know and who can hear what people have to say.

Counterintuitively, it might happen that people's attitude toward Muslims improves both after terror attacks and policies or rhetoric perceive to be anti-Muslim (thread):
Following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, favorable views of Muslim Americans rose from 45% to 59%. Following the Charlie Hebdo terror attack in France, favorable views of Muslims rose from 72% to 76%, very favorable views from 14% to 25%. pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2015…

For those doubting it DID happen in 2017. THat's actually likely (which should raise Qs abt Manafort's ongoing obligations to Kilimnik at that point). But that just means Manafort's excuses are bullshit ... which (aside from the impact of incarceration issues) they appear to be.

UCC had opportunity to comment on the #Data.Protection & Privacy Bill. The enactment of this law is long overdue. A comprehensive law on the collection & processing personal information gives effect to the right to Privacy envisaged under Article 27(2) of the Constitution
UCC welcome the protections offered by the Bill in terms of export of data, breach notification requirements, data subjects access rights, automated decision making, compensation and the right to be forgotten and provision for financial and penal sanctions for breach of the law.
Distinction between Data collectors & data controllers.
The Bill should however clarify & distinguish Data Collectors, from Data Processors & Data Controllers. Clause 2 is inconsistent with international good practice which provides for two broad categories of Data Controllers
