1/4 The President's direct calls on Attorney General Sessions to end the Mueller investigation and attacks on the prosecution of former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort are outrageous, anti-democratic, and potentially further evidence of obstruction. washingtonpost.com/politics/trump…
2/4 The President trying to undercut and shut down an investigation into himself and those around him goes against core democratic values. It also could be part of a pattern of obstructive conduct and help establish the corrupt intent needed to prove obstruction of justice.
3/4 Also, much as the President wishes it was not so, Attorney General Sessions is recused from the Russia investigation and cannot fire Special Counsel Mueller. The President pushing Sessions to reverse or violate his recusal is still more obstructive conduct.
4/4 Finally it is completely inappropriate for the President to comment in explosive terms on the Manafort case federal prosecutors currently have in trial and potentially try to sway jurors. Other than that, great tweets this morning!
