This is a pretty good example of how centrist/conservative Americans find medical charity to be heartwarming but leftist types see it as a sign of a systemic breakdown
I hear all the time from right-leaning doctors' groups that there's no need to expand Medicaid or w/e because there are charities that will fill in the gaps, and isn't that great. Meanwhile left-leaning think tanks find it scary to have to rely on charity for surgery.

I want to just tell you a bit about The Silver Line.

The Silver Line is a free helpline for older people in the UK. Part of what they do is arrange for people who are elderly and lonely to get a regular call from a volunteer. I am one such volunteer and I make a call every Monday to my Silver Line Friend.
Each Monday at 8pm I give my friend a call and we chat for half an hour or so.

For confidentiality reasons I cannot tell you too much about her, but we both enjoy our chats and we can end up talking about all sorts of things.

(1) Today I'm celebrating the best Easter in my 48 years on this earth.

And I'm not even a Christian. But I'll tell you why I'm so grateful for the life and death of Jesus Christ, and those who follow him today, especially those in the USA.
(2) Some years ago I came across the online atheist community, and became very interested in their views and practices. During that time I opened this Twitter account, as a way to connect to that community. I keep the account bc changing the username is too much of a hassle now.
(3) I don't support the practice of assuming a person's beliefs and labeling them according to their Twitter username. I'm an agnostic, not an atheist. I don't believe in God, but I never rule anything out. Atheist SJWs are some of the biggest bullies online.

I’ve made cosmetic use of Twitter in my 8 years here, barely scratching the surface of what’s possible on it.

To be honest, I’ve never felt it has any value as a microphone *for me*, but I’ve learned a lot on it. So here goes:
My fallacy is believing everything I’ve learned has a source that can be linked to. Reading *is* a meta skill (@naval), but how do you know your thoughts are your own and what do you do about it?

I read more than anyone I know in person, but does this help?
