Twitter is not a nation. Yet users expect it to govern speech as a gov’t would. In some ways, this reflects a general belief in democratic governance, which is positive.

Twitter is a private company. It can do what it wants. But it must tread carefully here. Users now recognize the power that private tech companies have over public speech environments. No platform is too big to fail (yet).
