As a third year medical student, I did a rotation in gastrointestinal firm, I joined the ward round and introduced myself to the Gastro Consultant.

Gastro Consultant: What did you say? Your name is Melaena????
Me: 😭😭😭😭😭😭

Di UK, kami memang menggalakkan pesakit dan family complain apa2 sahaja masalah melalui program PALS (formal complaint). Masalah yang kami ada di sini (begitu juga di Malaysia) adalah pesakit terlalu ramai berbanding jumlah nurse dan doktor.
So, melalui cara itu, pihak hospital dapat mengubah sistem mereka, masalah akan dikaji dan cara ini sangatlah berkesan. Setiap pesakit juga diberi electronic feedback form (via iPad) before discharge.
Jadi, kami dapat tahu apa kekurangan yang perlu diperbaiki. So, please I would like to encourage you to lodge a complaint if you’re not happy with the services.

 Why would someone with myocardial ischemia (angina) experience dyspnea?

I only thought to ask this question after being a doctor for more than 10 years. They answer seemed obvious, so why bother giving it any thought?

Because pathophysiology isn't always obvious...

#VickiMomberg was not sentenced for "being a racist": She was found guilty of crimen injuria, a criminal offence which is "unlawfully & intentionally impairing the dignity of another person." (Burchell 2016)
Unlike defamation, the insult in crimen injuria focuses on direct communicating your insult to the victim only.
Crimen injuria is often used against "flashers" or "Peeping Toms" (the latter links dignity to privacy). (Many might know these better as public nuisance crimes.)

[THREAD] In light of the recent Medicaid work requirement legislation, I felt compelled to share some thoughts. I am far from a policy expert, but I have had the opportunity to care for patients on Medicaid and hear their stories. A quick overview /1:

The true financial upside to this legislation is minimal. Of all medicaid patients, only 1% of them fall into the category that these policy changes impact- those without disabilities, who are neither elderly, nor children, and also do not work. /2
So, the Medicaid work requirements don’t encompass a financially advantageous policy as much as they represent another systematic implementation of barriers that prevent vulnerable, underserved populations from finding medical, occupational, and financial stability. /3
