Not to be bad sport but I always found the Eagles's sales claims a bit suspect. Now they suddenly overtook Thriller again and by 5 million, but I wonder how. Streaming numbers definitely do not support that. Here are the two albums stats from Spotify. 
The difference on YouTube (biggest streaming platform) is even bigger.
Sales? Well, even in the year when Glenn Frey died and Eagles albums got a boost (2016) they didn't outsell Thriller by a lot (billboard.com/charts/year-en…), Thriller got a much bigger boost after MJ's death. Something doesn't add up, I am sorry.
They also had another album Eagles album jump up by 10 million from 16x to 26x Platinum. But they won't give recepits as to how. Interesting.
Finally, I find it absolutely shady that the statement issued by RIAA and the Eagles state that this makes the Eagles album the best selling album of all times - without adding that it is only in the USA. Globally Thriller is the best selling album of all times.
