According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics ALL unemployment is down from this point last year among all demographics. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate is down 1% in 2 years since Obama's final term,
but it has contnued on a downward trend since the middle of the Obama Presidency. It was at 9.5 in 2009 (Great Recession brough on by whom?) and has gone down every year since. data.bls.gov/cgi-bin/survey…
U.S. manufacturing took a STAGGERING hit under younger Bush, as you can see, but rose substantially in early 2010 under Obama before leveling off to pretty steady growth since: tradingeconomics.com/united-states/…
As for food stamps, enrollement in those have dropped as the economy has improved over the past 8 years. Much of this is also due to the work requirement by many states. On this point, I am fine, the more people working = less on food stamps is great. tradingeconomics.com/united-states/…
As for Gorsuch, don't know what to tell you, but that is a stolen seat. It should be Merrick Garland. Several Republicans were fine with Garland when his name was floated around the time Sotomayor and Kagan were approved.
The whole "you can't nominate a justice in an election year" is a myth. Kennedy was approved in an election year and nominated within 1 year of the election (11/30/1987). John paul stevens was nominated within a year of an election by a President who was never elected 11/28/1975
Others nominated in an election year:
Cardozo 1932
Murphy 1940
Brandeis 1916
Clarke 1916.
That brings us to 6 such nomnations in the last century along. hardly "Unprecedented" McConnell stole the seat, and Republicans were once fine iwth Garland. newrepublic.com/minutes/131676…
Other justices confirmed? Yes, this is the job of any president. Reagan appointed 382. Clinton appointed 378. Obama appointed 329. W. appointed 327. Trump has 53. He has a ways to go before even coming close to his predecessors. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_P…
His response to ISIS is good. Yes, they are down, and I will give him credit there, but we should have never been in Iraq in the first place and that was all started 15 years ago by Bush. His AND Obama's drawdowns there were a mess, but Bush started it.
So these are his achievements. He has, at best, continued economic trends started under Obama and most sane economists think his policy on tariffs is disastrous. forbes.com/sites/artcarde…
His tax breaks have not raised wages like trickle down theory said they would, and trickle-down economics hasn't worked because the rich continue to get richer. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…
And I haven't even addressed the fact that Republicans threw a hissyfit and impeached Clinton over a blowjob, but they are fine with trump paying off mistresses and the "Party of family values" being represented by a thrice married serial philanderer.
There is also his violation of the emoulments clause since day 1, the constant dog whistling for racism, his disparaging comments aboutn anyone whos tands up to him, the fact he has done nothing with MULTIPLE mass shootings under his watch, and his desire to muzzle the press.
So yes, there is all that. I never even mentioned Russia, or Mueller, or Hillary's dossier, or any of that.
