Sadiq Khan continues his public lesson on how to build deep ties with the Jewish community - and I think it's fair to say from a starting point of mutual suspicion. Perhaps a nicer way of putting it is that it wasn't obvious this would work, but hard graft has made it so.
Remember the dog whistle campaign Zak Goldsmith ran against @SadiqKhan? That he was palling with Islamists etc? Well, Sadiq Khan has proven him wrong in the most heartening way possible. A lesson for others in the Labour Party.
When I see these kind of photos it actually brings a tear to my eye. Why can't we all just treat each other like we are human beings, with equal rights to dignity despite our political beliefs?

In the final para here @NickCohen4 suggests that under a Corbyn Labour government the Human Rights Act would be threatened as it places checks on governments... not sure about that! Certainly no signs of it in anything any Labour politician has said
I do get the point and also worry about some of the anti-dissent tendencies around Corbyn's movement. But whether a Corbyn government would go as far as unravelling the HRA which he and his colleagues have clearly supported, I doubt.

1) So I went to a different synagogue today and heard from one of the great #Jewish thinkers, leaders, scholars, good souls of our time, Rabbi Joseph Telushkin.

It is hard to overstate his influence but let's just say this was once in a lifetime.

2) Rabbi Telushkin was the scholar-in-residence at Congregation Beth Sholom in Potomac, Maryland. That means he gave multiple talks, Friday night, during services, after services, and again just before Havdalah (ritual ending the Sabbath).

I got to hear two of the talks.
3) Why should you care about this when there are more important things happening in the world?

I would argue that we spend a lot of time talking about the bad actors that have invaded our culture. We should talk about the good ones, more.

1. When it comes to the upcoming Congressional elections, most media attention has been on the US House. The conventional wisdom is the Democrats will take it, because most modern presidents have lost that chamber in their first term.
2. This is a neutral historic pattern having nothing to do with the individual residing in the White House. It’s America’s way of balancing things out. With one party running the country, another party is given the power to check and balance the other.
3. Again, that’s presidential history unrelated to actual presidential personalities. Add Donald Trump to the mix, however, and you have something altogether different.

This kind of policy error can have the effect of breaking up communities, especially marginalized ones: by suspending accounts of (e.g.) queer people more often than non-queer people, you end up preventing people from talking, interacting, and so on.
What's a "policy error?" Typically, there's a policy team at such companies that's trying to construct a careful and well-thought-out set of rules. Then these rules need to be operationalized and conveyed to the abuse *reviewers*, and that's where things go wrong.
These reviewers are typically temps (for numerous reasons), which means the amount of training they're going to get is limited. They're also expected to process cases at a rate of X per hour, which means they have to make really quick snap judgements.
