One state with primaries tonight for Congress, and Rep Mike Capuano D-MA could be in trouble, trailing in early returns
The AP has not called the race but Rep Mike Capuano D-MA has already conceded to Ayanna Pressley, who would be the first black woman elected to Congress from Massachusetts
Capuano D-MA would be the fourth House member to lose a primary bid for re-election in 2018 (Crowley D-NY, Pittenger R-NC, Sanford R-SC)
That means total turnover in the House is now 58 seats, more than the 2016 cycle. And more will lose in November.
Unlike Crowley, Capuano D-MA was not caught flat-footed by the Pressley challenge. He simply lost to a more progressive challenger.
This is really a striking statistic, and more evidence of how Congress is changing
After 20 years in Congress, Rep Mike Capuano D-MA loses his re-election bid…
The Capuano loss is not even close - with over 90% of precincts reporting, Pressley leads 58-42 percent. Again, she would be the first black woman elected to Congress from Massachusetts
