*whispers* The classics aren't locked away in a room to which only English teachers have the key. We are not gatekeepers for the canon, and the only reason we feel we are is because we worry kids won't read those texts in English class otherwise. But so what if they don't?
Tons of books have been written about love, loss, acceptance, etc. Is it better to have every kid be able to say, "Have you read Romeo and Juliet? Me too," or is it better to have kids say, "I haven't read R&J, but I HAVE read _____ and it was great. Should I read R&J?"
Is it better for every kid to graduate having read/been dragged through the same books, or is it better to have kids graduate having read wildly different texts and built their own worldview from those books? Is it better to have the same reading life or different reading lives?

Brief Commentary on what I see in parents pushing kids in the quest to one-up each other in the college arms race:

Stop. If YOU are the reason your kid is striving for good grades, great athletic achievements, etc. they will struggle in college. It needs to come from within THEM
Yes, I realize you see doom and gloom if little Johnny gets a B in Pre-Cal, or gets 15th place instead of finishing on the podium. But here's the reality. The #1 thing that will matter in his future success isn't what college he gets into or his grades...
It's whether he can be intrinsically motivated toward mastering something that catches his interest. If he can harness motivation, he'll figure the rest out. So when you constantly push her, you are training her AWAY from that.

My app is Online!
It took me ~4 weeks, maybe 35 hours/week, to make. However! I spent 2 weeks just watching courses, so 2 weeks of solid work, I think is fair to say.

The goal was to make a recipe/grocery list app. We have a weekly menu, and I'd want to select recipes and just get a grocery list automatically.
Sketching things initially helped a lot. Layout was never a problem, because I love #materialdesign and I'm stuck in the 90's...
#ngrx was definitely the trickiest part. @DeborahKurata & @dunchunter's course on #pluralsight is amazing, and everyone should watch it (if they need to work with ngrx, obvs).

Did I need ngrx? No. This could have been solved with services. But, I wanted to learn.

With the upcoming Neil-Gaiman-orchestrated "Dreaming" line at DC comics, I thought it might be time to revisit Neil Gaiman's wonderful "Sandman."

It's funny, I was just thinking today about the late sixties paranoia about cultural psychosis and insanity.

Modern pop culture is similarly fixated on the idea of insanity rippling through the popular unconscious.

"Legion", "Westworld", etc.

It's almost surprising that it took as long as it did for Gaiman to write for "Doctor Who."

Gaiman's abstract/symbolic cosmos is very much in keeping with Russell T. Davies' approach to concepts like "the Time War."

Why are the Senate and ALL the media covering for @Billbrowder?

1) 1⃣ is the date itself: March 4, 2004

This date is notable for a few reasons.

It's about a year & a half before Browder was barred in Russia.

It's also just a few months after the arrest of Mikhail Khodorkovsky.

So -- who is Khodorkovsky and it does it matter?
2) Mikhail Khodorkovsky was at one point (2003 or so) the richest man in Russia, after he built up Yukos in Russia's 2nd largest oil producer..

In @Billbrowder's book Red Notice, he describes the day of Khodorkovsky's arrest.
