so, i hate talking about this because it was one of the most upsetting and scary moments of my time being an ARMY, but, let's take a trip to December 27, 2015, BTS is in Kobe Japan for a 2 day concert.... suddenly we start getting negative updates from ARMYs attending the concert
they started telling us that the concert hadn't even started yet, the boys weren't coming out, they kept delaying the concert, this wasn't normal, cause Japanese concerts are very very well organized and punctual...about 20-30 minutes after the time the show was supposed to start
Five of the boys came out on stage, Namjoon, seokjin, jungkook, hoseok, and jimin...no Taehyung, no Yoongi...the audience was very confused, some started shouting, then joon announced that the concert had been suspended...he apologized, they could not show the stage performance
Level they wanted to with only five members present....shortly after, the crowd heard hold me tight playing the lights dimmed...the boys weren't moving as they performed...the crowd didn't move...everyone was in shock... yoongi's recorded part played through the speakers
then, they sang let me know...once again, no movement, yoongi's recorded part plays...then the lights come back, and Joon explains that yoongi and Taehyung are at the hospital, that they didn't feel well during practice, the crowd started crying, sobbing, Joon asked everyone to
Keep yoongi and Tae in their thoughts, then the five members performed I need u Japanese version, dancing without tae or yoongi, people were bawling...after the song, the 5 members left the stage & bighit staff came out to tell the crowd to go to the official site for refunds
Meanwhile, BigHit posted an explanation on Twitter of how the two dates in Kobe had been cancelled due to yoongi and taehyung being sick and that they were at the hospital, us ARMYs on Twitter didn't find out what happened during the concert until an hour after BigHit's tweet
We were panicking...we had so many thoughts, people were already getting pissed at the company for overloading the boys with concerts and events, they were convinced the boys weren't eating enough, they were angry that bighit could even let the five members come on stage
Many fans had seen jungkook, seokjin, and jimin crying while they performed those three songs...it was chaos
It wasn't until a month later, January 10, 2016 that yoongi wrote us a very long thread on Twitter revealing his feelings of failure cause of his not being able to perform at Kobe, it really hurt us, seeing the turmoil yoongi had been going through the entire time, alone
When his mixtape came out, alot of fans made the guess that yoongi might've actually been in the building the entire time of that very very short concert in Kobe
That was just one event that revealed to us how vulnerable our boys were & how attached they were to each other, how much they relied on each other but at the same time how each member was battling their own demons, trying to survive their inner turmoils in order to move forward
that was 2015, that was 2016, we're now in 2018, the boys have released a 4 part series tracking the journey to self love and acceptance, they've repeatedly told us how they're not suffering anymore, that they've become happy, confident, that they're starting to love themselves
And although the boys each most likely still have inner conflicts they're struggling with, i believe they've reached a point in their career where they're all individually stronger than ever, this making their bond as one group stronger than ever, no more vulnerable as used to be
BTS and ARMY has had this belief since debut....7-1=0, meaning, if even one member is missing then BTS is not BTS anymore, meaning to be considered an ARMY you have to love and respect each member without leaving anyone out, this belief never wavered, in fact it got stronger
So when faced with a new equation, 7-1=7, many recoiled...in disbelief, in anger, in disgust, they thought, this equation is asking us to change our belief, to think it's okay for one member to be missing, that BTS will still be BTS...but, actually think about it more
I'm gonna ask you to remember back to the event I just described above...how BTS was vulnerable, how attached they were to each other, how each individual member was in such turmoil to the point that if one went down, they all went down together, they all suffered, together
Now remember how I told you that these same boys have become happier, more confident, more secure with themselves and with each other....how as their individual self became strong, so did their bond together...that's what this new equation represents, how strong and unbreakable
Their bond is....7-1=7 means that, if one member is suffering, if one member is missing, BTS doesn't break down, they don't fall, because now, unlike before, when that member is suffering, when he is missing, those remaining boys will be his support, they will go looking for him
They will pull him out of his hole, because this time, these boys are now strong enough to hold each other up instead of all falling down. They will still suffer together, they will still be affected by the loss of that member, but instead of being vulnerable and giving up
They actually become stronger and pull that member up to them, they pull him out of his sorrow, they show him the path when he's lost, they carry his burden when his shoulders are heavy, they carry him when he can't walk, because they're now strong enough to support each other
