The fact there is complete journalistic indifference to Feinstein sitting on the letter is one of the more telling things about media motivation in this entire thing than anything else.
Schumer made it onto The View in less than a day. Feinstein somehow didn’t make it onto a single Sunday show & there is zero journalistic curiosity towards her.
Keep that in mind as journalists are now parsing everything Hatch says.

This media phenomenon of treating Donald Trump as the first president to be a habitual liar is one of the most unintentional hilarious things about their daily hissy fits.
They genuinely still have zero understanding about why people elected that lunatic. If you want to fact check him live, great. But you wouldn’t dream of doing it for the last guy & it will all cease with the next one & everybody knows it.
It was all fun and games airing empty podiums and rallies for hours on end. But boy did that plan backfire and gosh we’re just not sure if we can air his presidential remarks now.

I did something similar to this 5 years ago, in anticipation of EC & @theroots' Wise Up Ghost LP, on tumblr.

(You can still find all those posts if you look, although a lot of the YouTube links etc are now dead ends. It was 40 Days Of EC then, so for 2018 I'm upping it to 45.)
Mostly I will be going chronologically from the early years right up to the present, but it feels right to start out with Costello's 2002 song, "45."

One of the more depressing things to emerge from the debate on economic redress and empowerment is how close-minded people are to the empathy and compassion of those they disagree with. They cannot/will not concede it possible.
The first principle assumption seems to be the only way you can truly care about disadvantage is if you admit race is a proxy for it. The word admit is apposite: race is test for your moral worth. You cannot care if you do not embrace it. And it is used to shut down debate.
The idea that one could genuinely care about the poor and marginalized, the destitute and the disempowered and simply believe there are better, more effective ways to address their plight cannot be stomached, unless you believe race the only means to counter the problem.

Last time I flew alone a white dude spotted another white dude halfway through a packed TSA snakeline and started a shouted conversation with him, unhooking the nylon ropes and cutting across row after row of waiting people to join him.

It transpired they didn't know each other.
Like, I was right next to the guy who was already mid-line, so I heard every word of their conversation, which got a lot more awkward once dude number 2 had accomplished his goal of cutting half the line and it turned to actual small talk.
It was truly one of the more bizarre things I've ever seen. Like that thing women do for each other where we'll pretend to know each other in order to get a creep to buzz off. Except it was one polo shirt just helping the other cut half the line.

One of the more bleak things about looking at the cis response to Jesse Singal's work is how many folks are 100% here for psychiatrically torturing trans people because of it.
I've had a heck of a time finding the first person who said it, but someone On Here described it as "ideological laundering." Otherwise progressive people stan for psychiatric torture of trans folk, because they don't realize that's what Singal supports by his arguments.
4thWaveNow is a website dedicated to meticulously documenting strategies for psychologically tormenting trans and gender questioning people. Singal has neglected to mention that his sources for the Atlantic piece are members of the site.

One of the more insidious things TERFs have been doing lately, is insisting that a lot of trans people aren't really trans, they're actually autistic. And if your immediate reaction is, hang on a moment, who says autistic people can't be trans? You've spotted the nasty lil trick!
It's an incredibly paternalistic viewpoint that signals folks on the spectrum don't or can't know themselves, it's astonishingly hateful, and it's wrapped up in this fake concern for autistic children being "misdiagnosed" as trans.
So what they're trying to do is spread doubt and disinformation about doctors who specialise in trans healthcare, and popularise the idea that transition harms autistic children. So there's an intent that parents will buy this, and deny their children's gender identities.
