Trump gives the first press conference question to One America News, the station that makes Fox look tough on him.
One America's question to Trump is what he would tell the American people about "the possibility of war in Syria," citing the Russian plane being shot down. "There's concerns by many Americans, most Americans, that we might be involved in a war in Syria soon." ???
The U.S is already involved in the war in Syria. Trump says "we have done a tremendous job" there and are "very close to being finished" "eradicating ISIS." (ISIS has lost almost all its territorial holdings, but hasn't been eradicated as an insurgent/terrorist force.)
Asked about a threat to Eastern Europe from Russia, Trump says, "I think it's a very aggressive situation. I think Russia has acted aggressively. They respect force, they respect strength, as anyone does. And we have the greatest strength in the world."
There it is. Trump on Kavanaugh: "I feel so badly for him that he's going through this. I feel so badly for him."
Trump: "Hopefully the woman will come forward, state her case. He will state his case." He notes that her accusation is from "36 years ago."
Trump: "Honestly I feel terrible for him, for his wife...and for his beautiful young daughters. I feel terribly for them."
"This is not a man that deserves this," Trump says of Kavanaugh.
Trump gave his second question to Fox, by the way.
Trump used to say China's stock market was down 27% in three months, then 28%, then almost 30%; he just said it was "32%." Shanghai's SSE was down about 13% over the last three months as of yesterday.
Trump: "We love Canada. We love it. Love the people of Canada. But they are in a position that is not a good position for Canada. They cannot continue to charge us 300% tariff on dairy products."
For the 62nd time, Trump lies that the U.S. has a $500 billion trade deficit with China. That has never once happened.
Trump lies that the EU wouldn't talk to Obama about trade. The EU engaged in full-scale trade negotiations, on a proposed Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership, for three years with Obama.
"Canada has taken advantage of our country for a long time," Trump said earlier.
Duda's facial expressions as Trump did a rant about the European Union, which included complimented Jean-Claude Juncker as "nasty," were very good.
