Trump this morning: "Iran hates ISIS more than we do, if that's possible. Russia hates ISIS more than we do. Turkey hates ISIS maybe not as much as we do. But these are countries that hate ISIS."
On the shutdown, Trump said, "I may declare a national emergency dependent on what's gonna happen over the next few days."
Trump repeated his now-familiar false claim about the U.S. military presence in Syria: "When they went to Syria five years ago, they were supposed to be there three to four months. And they never came out." Experts tell me there was never any timetable on the mission.
Trump again on North Korea: "I can tell you the previous administration would have been in a war right now if that was extended. You would right now have been in a nice big fat war in Asia with North Korea if I wasn't elected president." There's no sign Obama was heading to war.
Trump said he's going to call "the head of U.S. Steel" and some other American steel executives to come up with a design for his "barrier," "and we'll use that."
Trump on all of his "acting" (non-permanent, not-Senate-confirmed-for-their-new-roles) top officials: "I sort of like 'acting.' It gives me more flexibility. Do you understand that?"
Trump: "I just saw a poll, 75%, it was on Fox, but I just saw a poll, 75% that immigration was so important." Not sure what Fox said, but the newest poll, from the AP, found that 49% say immigration is a top-five problem; 65% of Republicans.
Asked if he can relate to the pain of fed workers who now can't pay their bills, Trump said, "I can relate, and I'm sure that the people that are on the receiving end will make adjustments, they always do, and they'll make adjustments. People understand exactly what's going on."
For the 17th time, Trump wrongly says his opponent got 223 electoral votes (it was 232). This time, for the first time, he adds, "Or something like that."
Trump falsely said: "If you look at San Diego, there's been new wall built. Which doesn't get reported, I don't know why. They don't want to report it."

What's been built is a replacement for an old barrier, not a totally new wall. It's been reported correctly.
